EMOTIONAL SOBRIETY PARIS (2013 - 2021) - for the PDF click the link below or visit the Emotional Sobriety themed Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Paris, Asheville, Charleston, Los Angeles, Austin, Georgetown and many places to come.

BIll Wilson spoke of a Final Frontier, a new major "development within AA" that would spearhead AA into Emotional Sobriety, the 4th Legacy of Bill Wilson, we believe that more IS being revealed and that interwoven Step and Tradition work is part of the "Bridge" that he spoke of. The bridge to the heart, the wonderful Highway of Humility, come and join us and spread the message or to quote Bill "PASS IT ON". Any fellowship may adapt this work by replacing a few AA specific words to better fit your needs.

God wanted me to learn about these Traditions to make good use of my time during my early sobriety when I was not yet mature enough to face the abject fear of my core abandonment, the core of all recovery,  and hid out in grandiosity.

Although there is a beauty and need to study the Traditions and that deeper study is lacking from all fellowships to their detriment, it was only part of the path that led to Emotional Sobriety which one could call the Spirituality of the Heart!

Bill said a "movement within AA" that would spearhead AA into Emotional Sobriety. It turns out it was about 7 different programs worked with a fire chasing me and a passage through the core of the inner child process, backup to the more balanced Emotions Anonymous "Just feel it" wisdom which is to say acceptance, and then through the speartip of VA, to work on what preceded alcohol : violent thinking, the core of resentment, and how it worked into a distortion of my good nature. The spear tip. NVC prepared me for it. And Self EMDR, Tapping, TAT etc. are helping me daily to get out much of the triggers magnetism to where I could arrive at a "workable" condition at first and then beyond.  Maybe all these programs will become part of AA in some future and Unity and a light-glow will come to all the fellowships. In the end the steps contain all of this wisdom if they can be worked almost all at once, yet in order. The moral inventory changes our thinking and can be perfectly related to daily or multiple times per day trigger processing. This points to Bill's "every ounce of will and action to cut off these faulty (emotional) dependencies". The work must become incessant, as with steps 10,11,12, these too need to become incessant  like Paul's notion of incessant prayer. Self love is adressed as Step 6 to 7 goes from defects to shortcomings showing a softening of the self view post facing the defect.

Out of respect for the 12 Steps which have given me so much healing along with the 12 Traditions which have offered much needed structure, I must state that this journey is incomplete until one hits the true bottom and not only becomes powerless over alcohol, but also one must become powerless over the generational spirits of alcohol, the spirits of dysfunction and hindrance in one's entire family story to find true healing of the inner family from the core abandonment pain under all of the surface layers. Using 1000 shovels to process many  brain grooves until the root ball is dug up.
May I no longer hide out in intellectual spirituality or grandiosity, as I did for 12 years in recovery, to avoid feeling in general but also to avoid feeling the shame and violence that the teen and the inner child holds and had recieved and can lash out with.

Bill stated at the end of his letter above that "our paralyzing dependencies had to be broken at depth" before we could find the "outgoing love"circuit of the heart. That depth is not to be found in AA alone, one must seek deeper levels such as ACA, SAA (from Texas) for the inner child/teen healing, EA for the emotional check-in skills and especiallyVA (from Texas) for the speartip of violence received or expressed. The primary addiction of humanity is  resentment or violent thinking which is subtle in most, so much so that it is unseen. Like the healing of the drama tringle dynamic, it is hard to see as it is always chnaging position. The feelings lead us to "what ails us".

I also came back to these questions, removing program specific language, as they can also be used for character building in general.

The chart below represents the path I had to take, and am still taking, if it can be of value to anyone. Deeper, deeper, deeper we go!
